The socket has a snap on socket lid that will always fit tight. Most
sockets have a slip on socket lid that often does not stay seated. This socket has a lid
that snaps on over the front of the socket that produces a waterproof seal.

The socket is for 12 volt use up to 20
amps. All parts are weather resistant and high quality. The assembly consists of
an inter socket that is nickel plated and has a ceramic insulator with
copper/brass contacts. The outer insulating shell is also nickel plated
and screws onto the iner socket. A vinyl terminal boot fits over the the socket and terminals toprotect them from weather. a hole in the bacl of the boot allows for wire egress. The assembly also comes with two female 0.250 crimp
connectors and a vinyl snap on socket cap that seals the opening. The socket mounts in
7/8 inch hole and is held in place with the outer shell in panels upto 1/8 inch
thick.
The plug has a high quality nickel plated and ceramic element, with a comfortable knob. A weather skirt for the plug is included. When the plug into the socket the weather skirt seals the opening to prevent water intrusion and prevents short circuits and blown fuses. This combination is ideal for outdoor installations. The plug works like all lighter plugs. When you push it into the socket it heats up and pops out when ready. Draws 5 amps at 12 volts when pushed in. Draws nothing when at rest so will not drain your battery.
