Why is this socket different than the others being sold that look identical?

This is a high quality female socket kit The socket is marine grade and is weather and UV resistant. The cap seals the front of the socket The body is strong and light weight. The contacts are nickel plated brass. Rubber mounting washer seals the panel opening and make the assembly more vibration proof. It requires an 1 1/8" hole for mounting and has .250 quick male spade type quick connectors. Rated for 15 amps at 12 volts DC. Weight 1oz. This socket draws no power when not in use so it can't run your battery down.
It can be mounted against a panel with the retaining nut for panel thickness up to 1-1/4". For thicker panels use the mounting plate.
Works with any standard cigarette lighter plug or lockable marine plug. Check my other listing if you need a locking plug. A locking plug looks like a regular male lighter plug but when twisted in this socket can not be pulled out easily, unless twisted again.
Not for hot lighter use.
