This socket is extensively used throughout Europe for 12 volt portable accessories. It main advantages are that it is smaller than a normal 12 volt lighter style socket but has the same power rating. Also the socket with matching plug snap together to provide an anti-vibration proof connection. The standard 12 volt lighter socket to plug connection uses a friction fit that can vibrate out of connection in mobile applications. We have added to this socket a weatherproof boot to cover the wire connections and provide two female crimp terminal to ease in installation.
This listing is for one (1) weatherproof socket assembly consisting of a high quality socket with a tight fitting open vinyl cap, a socket terminal boot to shield the terminal connections from weather and two female crimp style connectors for installation convenience. The socket has brass and beryllium copper contacts with standard 0.250 spade type terminals in a heavy plastic HDPE body. The socket mounts in a 3/4" (0.75") hole. The length of the socket is 1.5" from the inside flange face to the tip of the male terminals. The maximum panel depth thickness is 1/2". The socket is rated for 15 amps at 12 volts DC. The socket weight is 0.7 oz
